The Fujinon MK 18-55mm T2.9 lens is one of two lenses announced with Fujinon’s MK cine-style zoom lens line. This compact, lightweight, e-mount lens features: a fast and consistent T2.9 maximum iris speed across its entire zoom range, high-quality optics, low distortion, and colors standardized to align with Fujinon HK, ZK and XD series lenses.
The Fujinon MK18-55mm covers Super 35mm-sized sensors and was designed for those cameras. The lens barrel has an impressive 200° rotation and has three independent rings for focus, iris, and zoom. Each of these rings uses an industry standard 0.8M pitch gear, and the gears are located in the same position on each MK series lens.
In fact, standardization is key with Fujinon’s MK lenses. Both the 18-55mm lens and the 50-135mm lens keep a constant aperture of T2.9. Both lenses sport a common 85mm outside diameter and 82mm filter diameter. Combined with the fact that both lenses are also the same length (206.3mm) and weight (980g), these lenses are easily interchanged without having to worry about adjusting the lighting or lens accessories (such as a matte box).
The iris on the MK 18-55mm T2.9 is click-less and has a macro focus function that can be enabled. Without the macro function, the lens has a close focus of 63cm from the front of the lens; with it, the lens has a close focus of 16cm. It’s a parfocal lens with no focus breathing and limited image axis shift when zooming.
